Rules and Regulations

Camp Olivet Facility Rules & Policies

Please review these rules with all counselors and staff; please determine the specific rules and regulations to share with your campers. Event and Camp Directors are expected to enforce these policies, and any violations will be reported to the Board of Directors by the Caretaker.

General Safety & Property Regulations

  • Restricted Items: Camp Olivet is a NON-SMOKING facility. NO alcohol, firearms, fireworks, or pets are permitted anywhere on the property.
  • Vehicles & Transportation: All vehicles must be parked in the gravel parking lot. NO ATVs, UTVs, dirt bikes, bicycles, skates, skateboards, or motorized ride-on toys are permitted. Campers are NOT allowed to drive the Golf Cart (the Director must request the key from the Caretaker).
  • Emergency Phones: The facility landline phone is strictly reserved for 911 and emergency calls only.
  • Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are observed from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  • Safety & Activities: Shoes must be worn at all times outside. NO WATER SLIDES are allowed on site for safety and insurance purposes. The creek is strictly off-limits except for pre-approved baptisms arranged through the Caretaker. The bridge is permitted for children only when accompanied by an adult.
  • Health & Medical: Record all illnesses and injuries at the Nurse's Station, and immediately report any facility-related injuries or safety hazards to concerns@campolivet.org with detailed information.

Cabins & Sleeping Facility Rules

  • Occupancy & Supervision: ALL cabins sleep a maximum of 8 people (NO EXCEPTIONS per Indiana State Law). At least 1 adult per 7 campers is required (preferably 2 adults per cabin). Adult supervision is required in cabins and during shower time. No loitering in cabin or shower house areas.
  • Night Restroom Protocol: Campers leaving cabins at night must inform their counselor, carry a flashlight, and be accompanied by an escort (another camper or adult counselor) whenever possible.
  • Cabin Care: NO food, drinks, portable heaters, extension cords, or electrical appliances are allowed inside cabins. Do not remove mattresses from beds.

Specific Building Rules

  • Marcella’s Cottage: Reserved strictly for adult workers, kitchen staff, and directors. No campers permitted (except accompanied young children, who must not be left unattended). The fireplace is OUT OF ORDER and CANNOT be used. Contact the Caretaker in advance if planning to use the cottage.
  • Red Barn Loft: Campers sleeping in the Loft must use the main Shower House for showering (Barn showers are strictly reserved to preserve hot water for kitchen and laundry use). Campers from other cabins are prohibited upstairs. Notify the Caretaker in advance if using the Loft.

Mandatory Drills & Maintenance

  • State Fire Drill Requirement: Indiana State Law requires the Camp Director to lead a fire drill within the first 24 hours upon arrival. Contact the Caretaker with any questions.
  • Maintenance: Report any broken property or needed repairs to the Caretaker immediately and email concerns@campolivet.org with details.
